Australian calculators and guides

Applies to: Australia

Everything on this site written for Australia, in one place: the negative gearing calculator under the three regimes now running at once, the offset account tools, pay measured against ABS inflation, and the grade scales.

This page is a filter rather than a category. Every page below is tagged for Australia, and the list is generated from those tags rather than kept by hand, so a page cannot sit here after it stops being about Australia.

The two groups say how strongly. Pages using official Australian figures publish numbers taken from a named authority with a verification date attached, and each of them shows on the page itself when its figures were last checked and by whom: the Australian Taxation Office for the tax rates and the negative gearing regimes, the Australian Bureau of Statistics for inflation. Pages that also cover Australia are written for more than one country and treat Australia as one of them, which is where most of the offset account tools sit: an offset is an Australian and UK product, and the arithmetic on those pages assumes the Australian daily-accrual, monthly-debit convention.

The negative gearing calculator is the one to start with if you own or are buying a rental property. The Treasury Laws Amendment (Tax Reform No. 1) Act 2026 quarantines residential rental losses from the 2027-28 income year, with two exceptions, so Australia now has three regimes running at once. Which one you are in turns on the contract date of your purchase and on whether the dwelling is new, and that changes the answer far more than any number in the arithmetic does.

Some tools you might expect are deliberately absent. The rental yield and cap rate calculator and the price per square metre comparator are property tools, but the arithmetic in them is the same in every country, so they carry no Australian tag and live with the investment calculators instead. A tool being useful in Australia is not the same as a tool being about Australia.

This page was called australian-property-calculators until 26 August 2026, and while it had that name it could only list money tools, because a property URL cannot honestly carry a grade scale or a cooking conversion. The old address still works and redirects here.
